The Seven Wonders!

Yay! So finally I can show you the designs I drew for the Versus 2 Exhibition.
I chose to illustrate the seven wonders as I thought it would make a nice fit with my card number 7.
However once I started I soon realised that trying to fit 7 things on to 4 cards demanded a bit more thinking time than initially expected...but I got there eventually and think along with the other 12 artists we made a lovely looking set of cards!

The exhibition is on for one more evening tonight from 6pm and also Saturday morning from 10am-1pm so you can purchase your own pack of cards and prints direct. They will also be for sale soon on the versus website along with last year's pack and you'll be able to check out the other artist's designs too.

Versus Project

Hello sorry it's been a little while since last post- as usual things have been a bit hectic-but in a good way. I've just completed a project called Versus- an awesome project, organised by Dave Ashby that enables artists and illustrators to showcase their work to creative agencies via an illustrated pack of cards. The call for entries came a while back with 52 artists submitting a card design and to my surprise I was chosen as one of the 13 artists to go ahead to create four cards for the final pack. I have illustrated the 7s and although I can't show you the finished pieces just yet I can tell you the theme is on the wonders of the ancient world! The pics above and below show glimpses of what I have created.

There will be opportunity to purchase the finished playing cards from September the 8th at the launch night at the Parlour on lower Park St in Bristol. On the night the packs will be at a special discount of £5 -they'll be available online to buy thereafter at £8. You'll also be able to buy the numbers as prints. To read more about the project and to see last year's illustrations just click here. You can also follow along via twitter for most recent news - @versus_sw

Bex Glover

I really enjoyed finding the work of illustrator Bex Glover this week- and the way she combines painted watercolours, inky lines and digital textures. She is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Bristol where she works under the name severn studios. Her inspiration usually comes from nature, the environment and humour and her distinctive style has been used in a variety of projects and exhibitions. I particularly liked her animal portraits especially Mildred the Surfing Sheep!
